educating and empowering children and families

Empower through Education

Children in the Preparatory class celebrate Salvadoran culture by decorating a drawing of the Torogoz, the Salvadoran national bird. The integral educational experience at Centro Hogar enriches both child and parent formation. Teachers foster a stimulating learning environment by encouraging children to ask questions, explain topics from their perspective, perform theatre skits, use their imagination and express themselves through play and art. With this healthy atmosphere and positive support, children gain self-confidence and self-empowerment.

During a school meeting, parents of children in the preparatoria class discuss the meaning of Parents are also students at Centro Hogar and participate in monthly workshops centered on adult personal formation, parenting techniques, toddler education, discipline and health care. These workshops are a platform for parents to seek support among their peers, dialogue about important issues and discuss their child's development with teachers. The knowledge gained at the workshops is true empowerment for parents. They are more in tune with how to best care for themselves, more aware of what is best for their family and therefore, are more balanced to raise their children.
