Since she arrived, Nicole has dedicated herself to creating a program that will help prevent violence in the community of San Ramón, specifically working with the children of 7 to 12 years old who previously studied at the Child Development Center. Nicole is very interested in violence prevention work.
As a result of her experience working with children dealing with neglect and trauma, she knows that although it sometimes seems that a situation is not changing, there is always something that can be achieved. When given the opportunity to do an internship abroad, Nicole chose Programa Velasco because it was an opportunity to learn about other communities, to gain more experience with preventing problems of violence, and to use her knowledge to create positive change in El Salvador.
Nicole is enjoying her stay in El Salvador very much. She has made several positive connections within the community and hopes to be able to return next year to continue working with Programa Velasco. We will be very happy to work with her again! We are very thankful for all her help!
