This is Andrea’s last year at the Center and her second year with a scholarship.

The Kindergartens’ parents learned about the Center’s literacy process and methodology. Teachers who facilitated the workshop emphasized the importance of parents supporting and accompanying their child during this stage in their learning and development.

Doctors, engineers, nurses, bakers, firefighters, police officers, and even a photojournalist! Kids dressed up as different professionals as part of last week’s theme, “Professions and Trades”.

“What can I give to others?” This is a question Stephanie asks herself a lot. She is the newest member of the team and started working at the beginning of May as a lead teacher, with a focus on improving the pedagogy at the Child Development Center.

This week we are happy to introduce you to Mateo Alexander, a 4 year-old preschool student – who always greets with a hug and by saying, “Buenos Dias!” or “Buenas Tardes”

“Artisanal jewelry takes on our human side. It’s a way of life.” This is how Evelyn described her business of making hand crafted jewelry since she stopped working in a maquila. She left the maquila job due to the high levels of stress and exhaustion that were negatively affecting her health.

When you hang out with Danae Nicole, you get 100% pure fun. She’s a four-year-old who always knows what she wants and her playful spirit makes you want to join in her games. In these three years, Danae has learned a lot and we are working together to keep it that way.

Sonia expresses her ideas with certainty, understands her value as a woman and believes that “every woman has the right to be happy, no matter her how much money she has or how much she is going through”.

Santiago – One of the happiest kids! It’s impossible to be in the 3 year-old classroom and miss Santiago. He always greets you with a kind word and a bright smile. He is very social and interested in learning about you!

This year, Isis is in the 2 year old classroom. Her teacher Guadalupe, spoke to us a bit about the interests, strengths, and some difficulties that Isis has.

Flor is the newest member of Programa Velasco!

As you can tell from Esmeralda’s smile, she radiates a deep sense of kindness and joy. She is a very gentile and gains the trust of those around her. These interpersonal skills have enabled Esmeralda to be very successful in her massage therapy business.
