Pamela, or Pame as we call her, is a fourth year psychology’s student at the Central American University José Simeón Cañas (UCA) and a few weeks ago she began an internship as a technical advisor for the entrepreneurs of the Women’s Empowerment Project.

The kids are not the only ones who get to be students at the Center! As part of the holistic educational experience and support services that families have access to, parents and guardians participate in monthly parent workshops where they learn and discuss different themes related to early childhood education and development.

After several years of owning her corn tortilla business, Roxana decided that she wanted to utilize other skills and knowledge she had – operating a small chicken farm.

The chance to qualify for seed money is one of the most important opportunities that entrepreneurs in the Women´s Empowerment Project have access to and is a reflection of the fruits of their labor.

A Central American University undergraduate student in Marketing, Gracia María, is currently a volunteer counselor for the women entrepreneurs of the Women’s Empowerment Project (WEP).

Noemy is a dynamic entrepreneur who takes initiative to move her business and family forward!

This year, as a 6 year old, it’s Osiris last one in the Center. She has been here since she was in the 2 year old class in 2013! She grown and learned so much since then!

“Every day we learn something new” says Clara, to describe her experience within the Women Empowerment Project (WEP).

This is Alisson’s first year in the Center and she is in the 3 year old classroom.

Kevin is almost 6 years old and he really enjoys going to school at the Center.

‘Always attentive’ and ‘willing to continue to learn’ are two attributes to describe María Ester.

Ariana’s just turn five and she’s very cheerful and curious. She has been a student at the Child Development Center since she was 2 years old. She is always very excited for what she’ll learn in school!

We had the privilege to welcome Raquel Arana, a well-known Salvadoran illustrator, hand-bag designer, and entrepreneur, to speak during our retreat for the participants in the Women’s Empowerment Project!

In June, Nicole arrived in El Salvador to do a two-month internship with Programa Velasco as part of her program of study at the University of Chicago, where she is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Social Work and Public Policy.

“I firmly believe that yoga can benefit a person at any age – a child, teenager, adult, or a senior”

“My knowledge and faith in God keeps me going” – this is what Roxana answered, when asked about how she face difficulties in her life.

Anderson is 3 years old, is his first year at the Child Development Center. he recibes a Velasco Program scholarship.
